Richard Hughes’s approach to health in homoeopathic literature stands as a unique, scientifically- oriented, pragmatic departure from the systems and dogmas often associated with the founders of homoeopathy. Hughes rejected much of the mystical and metaphysical elements in Hahnemann’s philosophy, positing a view of health and disease deeply informed by contemporary advances in pathology and experimental pharmacology. His stance had a lasting influence on both the evolution and critique of homoeopathic doctrine.
